As a reader, you have more choices then than ever before. Each day, more and more ebooks and print books become available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and other online publishers.
Choice is good. Too many choices…not so good, especially when there are few indicators to determine the quality of those choices.
Such is the current state of the indie book market. Amazon and Barnes & Noble make it really easy for authors to self-publish but hard for readers like you to figure out which indie ebooks are good and which are bleh.
We evaluate independently published books and give our endorsement to those that meet our carefully-crafted standards of good writing. We’re talking things like a clear and engaging plot, strongly-developed characters, compelling dialogue, good pacing…basically everything you hope for when you crack open a new book.
In other words, the Compulsion Reads Endorsement = POW! You just found yourself a good book. Now start reading!

Hi! I love reading books. I wish I could read every day. In fact, I wish I were abducted by aliens and forced to read continuously as some weird social experiment. Anyway, I always like to try new authors, so I’m heading over to Barnes & Noble to check out what new books are available.
Wow…okay, so there are a lot of ebooks here. More than a lot. Getting a little intimidated, but no worries. Some of these indie ebooks look pretty cheap. No way to tell what’s good and what’s not, so I’ll go ahead and buy a handful and see what happens. OH GOD MY EYES! MY BEAUTIFUL EYES!
Too many grammatical errors. The name of the main character’s best friend changed halfway through the book, and the love interest is supposed to be a nuclear scientist but speaks like an 18-year-old surfer.
I can’t read another page. In fact, I’m done. Just done. No more books. From this moment on, I’m a video gamer for life!
Hi. Reading is a big part of my life. I’m into indie music and art, so why not indie books? I just got a new e-reader, so I’m going to load up on some self-published ebooks on Amazon.
Hmmm….there seems to be a ton of ebooks. They all have good book reviews, but they could just be written by the author’s family and friends.
Well, what do you know, it looks like some of these self-published books are endorsed by Compulsion Reads. I guess they can’t be too horrible if they got an endorsement from a third party, so I’ll give them a try.
Yay! Lying out in the hammock with a good book is such a great way to spend an afternoon. Now I’ve got some new favorite authors I’m going to start following.
(Okay, we admit this is a little forced, but you get the point. Compulsion Reads helps readers find good self-published books.)
