We at Compulsion Reads are sensitive to the fact that indie authors must foot the bill for all of their marketing and promotion efforts, and that many are working on a limited budget. (Remember, we're indie authors too, and we struggle with the same limitations).
We've tried to keep our book evaluation prices as fair and as low as possible. That's why we charge different rates depending on the length of the manuscript, starting at just $19.99. The money we earn through our submissions is used to compensate our evaluators who carefully evaluate each manuscript that we receive. It also used to promote our endorsed authors.
We wouldn't have put this whole shindig together if we didn't believe in our heart of hearts that the Compulsion Reads Endorsement provides authors with real value. It is proof that their novel meets the quality criteria of an objective third party. This is exactly the type of distinction readers are looking for as they struggle to distinguish good books from the increasingly large pool of poor quality on the market.
As awareness in and trust of the Compulsion Reads Endorsement Seal grows, we believe that our book endorsement will help authors gain more sales and build a loyal readership more quickly and easily. Our goal isn't just to hand our endorsed authors a seal and then shoo them on their way. We take an active part in helping their books gain readers.
So that's our case. The money we bring in mostly goes to our reviewers or straight back to our endorsed authors. We understand that not every author is willing to pay for a Compulsion Reads book evaluation. That’s fine. There are plenty of other low-cost or free forms of marketing that an author can participate in. We strongly encourage you to invest your time and resources in multiple marketing channels and to participate only in those opportunities that you feel are the best value for your money.
