Milda Harris

 Genre/Sub-Genre :
Mystery & Thrillers

 Book Summary :
Sixteen year old Kait Lenox has a reputation as the weird girl in her high school, mostly because of her ex-best friend turned mean popular girl, Ariel, but maybe it has a little to do with the fact that Kait has a hobby crashing funerals. At one of these, Kait is outted by the most popular guy in school, Ethan Ripley. Yet, instead of humiliating her for all the world to see, he asks for her help, and Kait finds herself entangled in a murder mystery. Not only is the thrill of the mystery exciting, but more importantly Ethan knows her name! A little sleuthing is well worth that!

Question & Answer
What was your inspiration for writing this book?
My mom and I once had a conversation about professional mourners, probably at or just after a funeral. Anyway, professional mourners are usually elderly people who go to a lot of funerals. It made me start thinking, what if a teenager did the same thing?

How did you come up with the title of your book?
I wanted a fun title even though the subject of the book sounds morbid because my book is a fun romance mixed with a mystery, whose heroine just happens to like going to funerals.

What are your top five favorite books?
My top five favorite books at this very second are (they change all the time!): 1. Pride and Prejudice 2. Gone With the Wind 3. The Hunger Games 4. The Princess Diaries or almost any book by Meg Cabot 5. The Harry Potter series

If your book became a movie, who would you want to play your main characters?
I have been thinking about this and have been creating a board on Pinterest to work it out! As Kait Lenox, I was thinking of actress Britt Robertson (Secret Circle, Life Unexpected). As Ethan Ripley, I was thinking Daniel Sharman (Nine Lives of Chloe King). I'm up for suggestions, though!

If you had any advice for new writers, what would it be?
Write, write, write! Even when you don't feel like it!

What’s next for you? Are you working a follow-up or a new book? If so, can you tell us a little bit of what it’s about?
I am writing the 3rd novel in the Funeral Crashing series. It's still in the early stages, so I can't give away a synopsis just yet since it might change! I am also working on book #2 of a new series called The Doppelgangers, which is about a girl named Citrus who gets to school late one day. As she is about to walk into class, she notices that she is already sitting inside. After a double take and almost totally freaking out, Citrus realizes that she has an evil double...a doppelganger! What's a regular girl to do when her world is turned upside down and it looks like her life has been taken over by an extraterrestrial being?
